The Amazing Share Platter

I can’t imagine that many people have heard of Wollongong, I certainly hadn’t! If you are looking for a great place to stay that isn’t too far from Sydney, then this is it. We honestly couldn’t get a space anywhere in the city over the Christmas period, so we branched out to Wollongong which is roughly an hours drive away.

Bulli Beach Tourist Park
What a find! Truth be told, we came across this campsite completely by chance, but I would definitely recommend it to others! It’s a pretty big campground with room for all kinds of campervans, tents and the like. The best part is that it’s on the beach front, as in, literally right on the beach. You can roll out of your teeny campervan to a lovely, uncrowded stretch of sand. Plus the sunrise is spectacular (as I discovered on one well-timed toilet trip)!

Ruby’s Cafe
This little place is located on the edge of the campground, and is open to everyone. Whether you’re indulging in a full on meal, or simply stopping by for an ice cream cool down, you can’t go wrong here. Due to their great prices and great food quality, we treated ourselves to breakfast here most days!

Bulli Beach Cafe
After enjoying breakfast or lunch at Ruby’s (we went there a lot), we made our way to the Bulli Beach Cafe for dinner one evening. It did not disappoint. We snapped up a share platter for two, a couple of smoothies, and a table on the balcony overlooking the beach as the sun went down. Perfection.

Royal National Park
Boasting a range of beautiful coastal walks and picnic spots galore, we spent a day exploring Wattamolla Beach within this beautiful National Park. There is a huge amount to be seen here if you have a few days to spare.

Have you ever been to Wollongong? Is there anywhere that you would recommend? Please do let me know in the comments!
