After a rather rocky start to our adventures, we attempted to make the most of things and headed out for a day-trip to the Zoo in Bali.
In keeping with the common theme throughout Bali – i.e. commercialising every activity – it was rather pricey but we actually really enjoyed it.
We paid a bit extra to spend some quality time with the elephants and it was such a fantastic experience. The elephants are so gorgeous and soft-natured! We instantly fell in love with them and it made the whole entry fee worth it.
It’s amazing to see how lovely and playful they are, shooting water about and feeding themselves treats with their trunks. I could not get enough of watching them. Whilst they did seem content in their environment as far as we could tell, I couldn’t help but think that they would be better off if they were free from any zoo, anywhere.
After the unforgettable elephant experience, we wandered around the rest of the zoo. Another highlight for us was the orangutan and her two-week-old baby, the pair were absolutely adorable and we watched them interact with each other for a long time.
All in all, we were very glad we made the trip to the zoo. Though it is small and overpriced, we were incredibly grateful for our time with the elephants as this is not an experience that we could have had back in England.
That being said I would strongly advise anyone and everyone to steer clear of the smoothies served in the Cafe – unless you like it warm and VERY thick!
